Single Trip or Annual Multi Trip, nib have plans to suit the trip you are taking.

Single Trip Comprehensive Plan

Travelling to the slopes of Queenstown for a few days, Japan for a week, Canada or Europe for a month - consider this Comprehensive plan with snow cover.

Single Trip Essentials Plan

Not skiing and only need 'basic' cover? If you plan to spend your time exploring the shops or enjoying a hot chocolate in a warm cafe, then you probably don’t need to take out the Snow Sport cover option. The Essentials plan provides lower cover than the Comprehensive plan, and does not allow for the addition of snow cover.

Annual Multi Trip Plans

Do you travel to the snow more than once each year? Take multiple trips per year with travel insurance that offers cover for overseas and domestic travels, more than 200km from your home in New Zealand, for trips of up to 45 days.

Always check your policy wording when buying nib travel insurance to ensure you are adequately covered.  For the detail of exactly what is covered please refer to the Product Disclosure Statement which is included with your quote.

Yes. If they fall within the below definition, they can be added to policies at no additional charge.

  • Your children, stepchildren, grandchildren, foster children, and children for whom you are the legal guardian, who are travelling with you on the same itinerary for the entire duration of your trip and at the time the Certificate of Insurance is issued are:
    • under 25 years of age, and
    • working less than 30 hours per week.

There is no age limit on the Comprehensive plans. The Essentials plan is only available to travellers up to 69 years of age.

Yes you can by taking out a Comprehensive Single Trip plan in addition to the Annual Multi Trip plan to cover the extra days. If you are already overseas and need to extend your trip and there is a break between the two policies  there is a 72-hour waiting period before the second policy becomes active. If you purchase while you’re travelling, you must purchase cover up to the date you will return to your home in New Zealand – we can’t cover you for the middle of a trip.

When you complete the traveller’s details on the quote there is a medical section to fill in. Over 40 existing medical conditions can be covered automatically online, provided all the criteria for that condition are met. For more complex medical conditions NIB have a Medical Team who can assist you. Some pre-existing medical conditions may increase the cost of the policy.
